Annual Report
I am proud to give you an overview of how we spent our last year.
The country went into lockdown on 24th march 2020 and I am proud to say that The Dwarka School started online teaching to std X students from 26th March 2020. Suddenly words like google classroom, kine master, padlet and kahoot become our daily vocabulary.
Finally, in December 2021 we welcomed the little kids back to school and the building once again reverberated with their giggles and chatter.
The students back in school, as always have been enjoying a plethora of activities.
Early in June we had an activity on Benefits of reading and since then the language teachers have been working hard to improve the reading skills of the students.
To overcome the challenges faced by the students who could not avail online classes, the school has devised its own bridge curriculum. Teacher are working with these students to cover 2 years of lessons in this academic year.
Through these challenging times our school got selected as a centre for the National Testing Agency and since then we have conducted five all India level exams for NTA.
International Dance day and International music day were celebrated and students learnt songs in foreign languages and western dance style.
Continuing the tradition of each year the Pandharpur wari was replicated in school and students and teachers walked in a procession carrying the school’s little palkhi.
Classes VII and VIII visited the Deccan college of Archaeology to learn about the ancient history since the stone age. They also visited the section on Maratha History and saw many manu scripts, coins, pottery and other artefacts on display.
Another highlight of the year was the trip to Ralegan Siddhi where the students spent a whole day with the present day social reformer Anna Hazare.
I am proud to tell you that The Dwarka School is now a part of the Pune Climate Warriors an initiative of the politician and environmentalist Vandana Chavan.
The students of our school regularly visit the Dulcine Pius Old Age home in waki and spend time with the elderly people staying there.
For the first time in all these years we decided to keep an idol of Ganesha in school during the Ganesh festival. The school being part of eco exist supported the Punaravartan Project. Students made eco-friendly Ganesh idols with shadu clay and later immersed them in buckets of water. The Shadu mud was then dried out and stored for reuse next year.
Seven students of the school participated in the State Level Universal Shotokan Karate competitions and won 1 aural for the school.
The senior students visited IISER Pune where they learnt to make fun scientific experiments, and participated in a lecture on origin of life and astrobiology. They saw an exhibition on Math models and fossils.
The school recently had the Sport Day and Sarabhai House was adjudged as the Best House. Congratulations to all the students and teachers of the Sarabhai House.
Both our Boys and Girls Kabbadi teams reached the semi- final stages in the Maharashtra school Federation games. Rohan Sable and Aman Katke stood third in the shot put throw in their age wise categories and Ishwari Pawar stood second in shot put throw.
Congratulations students, you do us proud.
I also wish to thank my teachers and my support staff who are the real pillars of strength and who have helped implement chairman sir’s vision on ground.
